Is Zoho Good For Cold Emailing? (2024)

Updated April 2024

Zoho is NOT good for cold emailing.

In the past, people used Zoho for creating their email accounts because it was cheaper than Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

However, things have changed, meaning that if you send cold emails from Zoho email accounts, then your emails will go to spam.

In this article, I will cover everything that you need to know about Zoho and cold email:

What is Zoho?

Zoho is an email service provider.

You can use Zoho to create professional email accounts.

In the cold email community, Zoho was the third most popular email service provider, behind Google Workspace (Gmail) and Microsoft 365 (Outlook).

Why is Zoho bad for cold email?

Zoho is bad for cold email because it has poor deliverability.

This means that if you send cold emails from email accounts that are set up with Zoho, that all of your emails will go to spam.

Major email service providers, such as Microsoft, have been blocking emails sent from Zoho for a while now. This means that if you send cold emails using Zoho to leads that have Microsoft email accounts, then your emails will automatically be blocked.

The reason why many email service providers block emails that are sent from Zoho is because there is a much higher rate of spam that comes from Zoho compared to other email services.

Zoho has historically been the cheaper option, offering professional email account creation for around $1 per inbox per month. This is 12x cheaper than Google Workspace, which is around $12 per inbox per month.

Spammers typically use cheaper methods, so they flocked to Zoho. Microsoft (and others) caught onto this, and decided that it would be easier and more effective to simply block all emails that were sent from Zoho email accounts, in order to protect their users from spam.

Also, Zoho is an Indian company, meaning that a high percentage of their user base are Indian. India has a reputation for sending a large volume of spam. Email service providers can see the Indian email server IP addresses from Zoho, and simply block these emails.

What happens if you send cold emails from Zoho?

If you send cold emails from Zoho email accounts, then your emails most likely will go to spam.

Using Zoho in an effort to save money will actually cost you more money, since your response rate will plummet, resulting in less sales and revenue for your business.

Which email service provider should you use instead?

Google Workspace (Gmail) and Microsoft 365 (Outlook) are the best email service providers for cold email.

They have the most trusted email servers, meaning that if you send your cold emails with them, your emails are more likely to reach the primary inbox (not spam).

I wrote an article that shows you how to set up professional email accounts with Google Workspace.

I also recommend that you send your cold emails with a specialized cold email software (like Emailchaser).

You still should set up your email accounts with Google Workspace, but after you have set them up, you should connect them to Emailchaser to improve your email deliverability.
