What customers reported
“It’s been great using Emailchaser. We closed a contract with a major nationwide pest control company last week to provide all their utility locating and concrete scanning services across the southeast Queensland region, all thanks to a well-written cold email. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing the updates.”

How the Emailchaser Cold Email Score is calculated
Every email starts at 100. Each of the 17 rules below that fires takes off a fixed number of points, and the result lists the rule and the points next to every finding. The table is the code: the grader reads its rules from the same list this page renders, so the two cannot drift apart.
5 rules cite a third-party study collected on our cold email statistics page. The other 12 are our judgement, and they are marked as such. The spam-phrase list is 109 curated phrases shared with the Spam Word Checker; no official list of spam words exists, so treat that rule as a house rule too.
| Rule | Points | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Spam phrases7 points per phrase, capped at 30. Uses the same curated list as the Spam Word Checker. | −7 each, max −30 | our judgement |

| URL shortener | −12 | our judgement |

What a good score does and does not tell you
The score reads the words. A high score means the copy is clear of the rules above: no promo phrases, no link pile, a real personalization token, a sensible length and one clear ask. It says nothing about whether the email will arrive.
Arrival depends on things this page cannot see: the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records on your domain, whether the addresses on your list exist, and the reputation of the mailbox you send from. Check the first with the domain health check, the second with the email verifier, and read how the ramp works on a new mailbox before you send from one.

Common questions about grading cold emails
How does the cold email grader score my email?
It checks the subject line and body against the 17 rules of the Emailchaser Cold Email Score: spam phrases, links, personalization, length, exclamation marks, capitals, a single clear ask, readability and greeting. Each rule that fires takes a fixed number of points off 100, the result shows which rule fired and what it cost, and the full table is published on this page.
Which rules are evidence-based?
5 of the 17 rules cite a third-party study listed on our cold email statistics page: over 200 words, over 150 words, no personalization token, no question or ask, reading grade over 12. The other 12 are our own judgement, marked "our judgement" in the table, and the spam-phrase list is 109 curated phrases with no official source, because no official list exists.
What does the grader not check?
It reads the copy only. It does not look up your SPF, DKIM or DMARC records, does not verify the addresses on your list, and knows nothing about your sending domain's reputation. A clean score means the words are clear of the rules, not that the email will reach the inbox.
Is the cold email grader free?
Yes, it's free, needs no signup, and runs entirely in your browser. The subject line and body you paste are never sent to a server.
