Every thank-you email after an interview has the same three moves: thank them, prove you were paying attention, restate your interest. The middle one is the only part that matters, and it is the part a generic template cannot do for you.
So the tool above asks for it directly. Give it one specific thing you discussed, a project, a constraint, something the interviewer said, and it builds the email around that. An interviewer who has read five identical thank-yous will notice the one that could only have been written after their conversation.
Send it the same day if you can, the next morning at the latest. Early-round decisions get made fast, and a thank-you that lands after the shortlist is drawn does nothing.
One email per interviewer, each genuinely different. If you met a panel of four, that is four emails referencing four different conversations. If you only have one email address, one message addressed to the group and mentioning something from each person works, but it is second best.
Four versions covering the rounds people ask about most: first interview, the short version, a phone screen, and the final stage.
Do not restate your whole CV, do not apologise for anything that went badly (it draws attention to it), and do not ask about salary or start dates. Do not attach anything unless they asked. Do not send it from a personal address they do not recognise, use the same one they have been emailing.
And do not chase. If you have not heard back by the date they gave you, wait two working days past it, then send one short follow-up. After that, move on and keep interviewing.
A job search is a cold email campaign with better stakes: a list of targets, a personalized first message, and a follow-up sequence you have to remember to actually send. Most people lose candidates to the second half of that.
Emailchaser sends personalized outreach from your own mailbox and stops the sequence the moment somebody replies, so nobody gets chased after they have already answered you.
When should I send a thank you email after an interview?
Within 24 hours, and same day is better. Hiring decisions on early rounds are often made within a day or two, so an email that arrives on day three lands after the decision. If you interviewed in the morning, send it that afternoon.
What should the subject line be?
Simple and identifiable: "Thank you - Product Marketing Manager interview - Jordan Lee". The interviewer may have seen six candidates, so your name and the role do more work than anything clever. Replying inside the existing scheduling thread also works well.
Should I send a thank you email after an interview at all?
Yes. It costs you five minutes, and enough candidates skip it that sending one is a small differentiator. It will not rescue a bad interview, but between two close candidates it is a genuine tiebreaker, and it gives you one last chance to say the thing you forgot.
How long should a thank you email be?
Under 200 words, three short paragraphs. Thank them, name one specific thing you discussed, and restate your interest. Anything longer reads as anxious rather than keen.
Who do I send it to if I met several people?
Send a separate email to each interviewer, and make each one genuinely different by referencing what you actually discussed with that person. Interviewers compare notes, and identical emails are obvious and worse than sending nothing.
What if I forgot to mention something important in the interview?
The thank-you email is the right place for it. Add one short paragraph: "One thing I did not get to mention...". Keep it to a single point, and only if it genuinely strengthens your case. The generator has a field for exactly this.
Should I ask about next steps in the thank you email?
Only if they did not already tell you. If they said "we will be in touch by Friday", asking again reads as not listening. If they said nothing, one line is fine: "Happy to provide anything else that would help."
