Open the source and select the text you want — in a Word doc or PDF press Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on a Mac) to grab everything, or drag to highlight one section, then copy it. For a spreadsheet, click the column header in Google Sheets or Excel to select the whole column and paste it in — mixed "Name <email>" cells are fine, only the address is pulled out. To collect everyone on a Gmail or Outlook thread, open the conversation, select all and paste; every sender and CC address in the quoted history comes out deduplicated.
One catch: a scanned or image-only PDF has no selectable text, so there is nothing to copy. Run it through OCR first (in a pinch, uploading it and choosing "Open with Google Docs" turns the picture into real text), then extract from that.
The extractor looks for the standard name@domain.tld shape, so anything deliberately disguised slips past it: addresses written as "jane [at] acme [dot] io" or "jane(at)acme.io" have no real @ sign and won't be found. Un-obfuscate them in your text first, or fix those by hand. Addresses with accented or non-Latin characters (such as jose@münchen.de) are also skipped, because the matcher only reads plain A–Z, digits and the usual symbols.
The opposite problem is over-capture. If an address is glued to the next word with no space — "...reach jane@acme.iotoday" — the trailing letters get pulled in as part of the domain, so you'll see jane@acme.iotoday. Retina image filenames like logo@2x.png look exactly like an email to any pattern matcher and can show up as false hits too. Add a space where addresses run together, and skim the results for anything ending in .png, .jpg or a word that shouldn't be there.
Extracting an address only proves it matches the shape of an email — not that anyone reads it. A perfectly formatted address can belong to someone who left two years ago, a mistyped domain, or a spam trap. The tool keeps plus-tags separate (jane+news@acme.io and jane@acme.io stay as two), while duplicates that differ only in capitalisation are merged, so Jane@Acme.io and jane@acme.io collapse to one.
Worked example: paste "Jane Doe <jane.doe@acme.io>, sales@acme.io, JANE.DOE@ACME.IO" and you get two addresses — jane.doe@acme.io and sales@acme.io — with the shouty duplicate removed. To turn a clean-looking list into a send-safe one, run it through Emailchaser's email verifier, or use the Email Checker to flag syntax typos and dead domains before they bounce.
Exports are rarely tidy: a contacts CSV might carry emails buried in a "Name <email>" field, split across several columns, or repeated on every row of an order history. Paste the whole thing and the extractor keeps only the addresses, drops the repeats and hands you one flat column ready to paste back into a sheet — pair it with the Remove Duplicate Emails tool when you're merging several exports at once.

Can I extract emails from a web page or its HTML?
Yes. Copy the visible page text, or view the page source and paste the raw HTML — the tool finds addresses in plain text and inside mailto: links alike. It doesn't fetch URLs for you, so paste the content itself rather than a link to the page.
Why didn't the extractor pick up an email in my text?
The usual reasons are obfuscation and encoding. Addresses written to dodge scrapers, like "name [at] company dot com", have no real @ sign, and addresses with accented or non-Latin characters fall outside the standard pattern, so both are skipped. Un-disguise them in your text first, then run the extract again.
Does the extractor keep the emails in their original order?
By default, yes — addresses come out in the order they appear in your text, with later duplicates dropped. Turn on Sort A–Z if you'd rather have them alphabetised, which helps when scanning a long list or comparing two exports side by side.
How many emails can I extract at once?
There's no fixed cap. Because the work happens locally in your browser rather than on a server, you can paste thousands of lines and get results instantly; the only real limit is your device's memory on an extremely large paste. For very big lists, extract in a couple of batches if your browser slows down.
